Features of world assumptions and mechanisms of psychological defense in drug addicts

Understanding of world assumptions and mechanisms of psychological defense in persons with addictive behavior allows more comprehensive planning of treatment of these patients in accordance with their dominant assumptions and defenses and provides opportunities for developing more effective prevention programs. The purpose of this study is to identify the features of world assumptions and mechanisms of psychological defense in drug addicts. The authors study a sample of two groups: drug addicts in the number of 35 people and a group without addictive disorders in the amount of 36 people with the use of a psychological battery of techniques. Results. Among the addictive personalities, a high level is revealed on the scale of "degree of luck" and in the control group on the scales "world's favor", "degree of self-control"; the predominance of such defensive mechanisms as "denial", "projection," and "regression" in addictive personalities is revealed. A low degree of satisfaction with their functioning among addictive personalities in their married life is found. Conclusions. Differences in the studied parameters of world assumptions, mechanisms of psychological defense and satisfaction with their functioning are revealed.
