Features of the Dialogue between Russian and Chinese Artistic Cultures using Oil Paintings as an Example

This article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the genesis, evolution and modern transformations of oil painting, primarily in the context of the cultural landscapes of modern China and Russia. This study focuses on the mechanisms of mutual exchange, interference, and cooperation that shape the overall dynamics of artistic experience in both countries. The article examines in some detail the issues of the formation and development of the tradition of oil painting in Russia and China, the author conducts a comparative analysis of various approaches to the ideology and methodology of socialist realism in Eastern and Western societies. In this study, the underlying differences between these approaches were identified, determined by the disparity in worldviews and sociohistorical contexts. The author pays special attention to the metamorphoses of realistic art in both countries in a new historical era. The study focuses on empirical data and lessons learned related to the dynamics of development and transformation of oil painting in China at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.
