This article reveals the peculiarities of gender culture in modern Japan through the prism of the specifics of relations between women and men in Japan, including at home and at work. The author notes that this topic is very relevant, since the inequality of men and women is a key problem of modern Japan. The reasons for this situation are revealed, among which the author refers to the developed patriarchy, the appropriate upbringing, the way of life of Japanese families. The author points out that these factors have influenced the way of life of the land of the rising sun, which may partly resemble discrimination. For example, in Japan, the female sex almost does not hold positions in government, the lack of certain guarantees and benefits for women, and bias in hiring them. In addition, the analyzed situation generates domestic violence and the underdevelopment of services aimed at protecting women's rights. It is very difficult to assess this situation from a positive point of view, and in order to change it, Japan will need to go a long enough way to change this situation.
