In modern conditions, state regulation determines the formation of the innovation potential of ter-ritorial entities. This issue is becoming especially relevant for single-industry towns seeking economic diversifica-tion. The aim of the article is to analyze the specifics of state regulation of the innovative development of single-industry towns in Russia and formulate recommendations for improving the mechanisms of regulation of this pro-cess. The formation of an effective legislative infrastructure involves not only the optimization of administrative procedures, but also the creation of an integrated ecosystem to support innovation activities. Tax incentives are one of the fundamental tools for intensifying innovation activity. The introduction of preferential conditions for re-search projects and special tax regimes for technology startups can significantly intensify the process of technolog-ical modernization of single-industry towns. Promising areas of further scientific research in this area include the study of international experience in government regulation of innovations, the development of public-private part-nership mechanisms and the analysis of the effectiveness of existing regulations, and the revision of existing meth-odological approaches to the study of this problem.
