Features of the study of metal tools and weapons of the timber-grave culture in the Samara Volga region

The article is devoted to the analysis of metal tools and weapons from burials and settlements of the timber-grave culture in the Samara Volga region. The author considers approaches to attributing tools and weapons made of metal as remnants of the early (Pokrovsky) or classical (developed) stages of the timber-grave culture. Jewelry items, ceramics and bone implements are not considered in this work. The research is based on the study of burials and settlements of the timber-grave culture, as well as random finds. In total, the author takes into account materials obtained from the 1920s until 2023 as a result of studying 120 burial mounds, 329 burials of the early (Pokrovsky) stage and 34 burial mounds, 387 burials of the classical (developed) stage of the timber-grave culture, as well as materials from the settlements of both Pokrovsky and developed stages, and sites with uncertain periodization on the territory of the Samara Volga region. The author used methods of comparative analysis, mathematical data processing, and mapping.
