Peculiarities of female convicts' emotional intelligence taken into account by penitentiary officers in their professional activity

The article comprises the outcomes of the complex research conducted among female convicts as to the level of their emotional intelligence and its manifestation during different periods of serving the sentence. Taking into account the convicts' character influence the authors substantiate the typology of convicts according to their emotional intelligence peculiarities (“emotionally labile” and “emotionally rigid” types) and provide psychological portraits of their representatives. The external and internal determinants of personal emotional immaturity of this category of special contingent are revealed. It is argued necessary to increase psychological emotional competence of various categories of the Russian Federal Penitentiary officers who deal with corrective activity in the course of their duties. Considering the convicts of “emotionally rigid” type category of special contingent which requires increased penitentiary-pedagogical attention it is significant to work with those people according to the model of “post-diagnostical training correction” and methodical experience in the field of emotional intelligence.
