Introduction. Disabled convicts, being one of the most vulnerable categories of persons in a correctional institution, require special attention because they experience difficulties in adaptation due to their oppression by stronger persons, which often leads to the development of destructive (including suicidal) behaviour. Organization of planned activities is one of the factors of successful adaptation, and emotional states are obvious indicators of the effectiveness of the performed actions. The purpose of this study is to identify the features of emotional states typical for disabled convicts serving sentences in a strict regime penal colony, which will ensure the development of a model of a group psychocorrectional program for persons with disabilities of different age categories in future, and through this it will be possible to optimize the emotional state by influencing the patterns of interpersonal interaction. Materials and Methods. In this study, the following empirical methods were used: Yu. M. Orlov questionnaire of the need to achieve, S. Rosenzweig's frustration test, as well as quantitative (Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient) and qualitative processing (analysis and description). Results and Discussion. In the course of this study it was revealed that the need to achieve the goal among disabled convicts is slightly higher than among persons in the control sample, but the degree of social adaptivity of convicts without disabilities prevails over the indicators of representatives of the main sample. This proves that convicts with disabilities are able to set various goals (in the medical, social, psychological spheres), outline the ways to achieve them, but they do not take active steps to implement them. When frustrating situations arise, they tend to adhere to the position that over time the normal course of events will correct the difficulties that have arisen. Conclusions. The peculiarities of the emotional states of convicts associated with the achievement / non-achievement of the goal identified in the course of the study make it possible to develop a model of the psychocorrection program based on the activity approach.
