Features of the Russian language evaphemization

The author analyzes in linguistics. Formation of the foundations of the study of the lexical phenomenon of euphemization of speech, significant scientific interests to which intensified in the early 21st century. This is evidenced by the appearance in a number of scientific publications of a significant number of publications, the publication of dissertations, monographs and lexicographic works devoted to this problem. On the basis of the researches it is possible to determine that in Russian linguistics, as well as in the world, two views on the definition of the term "euphemism" were formed. Researchers consider these language units in two meanings: in narrow (euphemisms - substitutes for taboos) and in broad (euphemisms - means of speech softening).
