According to the World Health Organization, more than 163 million people. in the world suffers from eye diseases, of which 124 million have low vision, and 37 million are blind. More than 82% of these patients are over 50 years old, although representatives of this age group make up only 19% of the total population of the Earth. Diseases such as glaucoma, fundus pathology and cataracts account for over 70% of blindness in the world. At the same time, cataracts are the main cause of blindness in the third world countries, where most of the world's population lives, about half of the total number of blind people in the world is associated with it, which is currently about 18 million people.
