Cognitive features of adolescents with somatoform autonomic dysfunction

The article is devoted to analysis of features of cognitive processes of adolescents with somatoform autonomic dysfunction in comparison with healthy adolescents. Methods used: the Stroop test to assess the emotional component of perception, the method of “10 words” to study the dynamics and specificity of memory, semantic differential to study the characteristics of emotional relationship to neutral and emotionally significant stimuli. 166 adolescents aged 13 to 17 years has been studied: 106 adolescents with somatoform autonomic dysfunction, 60 adolescents of the control group. The huge role of emotional component in the process of perception, the specific features of attention and memory in adolescents with somatoform autonomic dysfunction and their differences from healthy adolescents was defined. Age analysis revealed more pronounced disorders in younger adolescents compared with older. In adolescents with somatoform autonomic dysfunction concomitant somatic diseases are observed more expressed disturbances.
