Some features in preserving actinobacteria of the genus Rhodococcus

The viability level necessary to recover cell populations upon longterm storage was measured. It is recommended to preserve alkanotrophic rhodococci precultivated on nutrient hydrocarboncontaining media. The duration of rhodococci storage could be increased with the helot protectants. The most effective lyoprotectants are shown to be a sucrosegelatine agar or gelatine agar supplemented with Rhodococcus-biosurfactants.
