Features of the forensic investigation of the remains of the R-360 anti-ship cruise missiles of the 360 mc Neptune missile system

Currently, there is a tendency to expand the range of objects of explosive expertise, which is directly related to the use of modern weapons in combat operations. Explosives experts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, when performing their official tasks related to accident scene investigations and conducting expert investigations, often have to deal with a shortage of necessary technical information about ammunition products. This fact complicates the process of diagnosing detectable objects under investigation. The authors of the Criminal Expertise Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia carried out work on collecting, summarizing and structuring information about the above-mentioned products, including the R-360 anti-ship cruise missile as part of the Neptun missile system which is in service with the armed forces of Ukraine. The article contains general information about the purpose and composition of the mentioned missile system, its technical characteristics, design features of the R-360 missile, as well as its typical parts found at the accident scenes. Some recommendations for conducting an inspection of an accident scene related to the discovery of the remains of the R-360 missile and the subsequent conducting expert investigations are given by the author.
