The article presents a generalized theoretical understanding of the factors that determine an individual's position in society, according to Bourdieu's theory: cultural capital, including connections with other authors (A.S. Golikov, D. Throsby and R. Collins). The results of an empirical study on the topic of cultural consumption practices in different professional groups are presented. Professional groups are represented by associations of teachers and factory workers, as owners of an asymmetric structure of total capital, i.e. For teachers, cultural capital predominates, while for factory workers, economic capital predominates. In the context of professional affiliation, as a reflection of a certain position in society, the following practices of cultural consumption are considered: reading books, watching theatrical productions, viewing museum exhibits, studying historical sights, participating in festivals, listening to public lectures, participating in symposiums on professional topics, watching sports events and viewing exhibition exhibits. The article provides an overview of the characteristics of reading books and watching TV in professional groups. The author proves the relevance of considering teachers and factory workers as statuses whose cultural consumption has few similar practices. Consideration of habitus as a structuring structure that allows for the implementation of a certain set of cultural consumption practices.
