Features of cultural tourism and its importance in the development of the region

The article discusses a set of definitions of cultural tourism, its constituent elements. The study has shown that cultural tourism performs a wide range of diverse functions, which testifies to its high socio-economic role, the importance of cultural tourism in stimulating the economic development of the territories inhabited by indigenous peoples who need econom- ic support. In this connection, the problem of creating a favorable image of a specific region in the tourist market is being actualized, the solution of which is possible by drawing atten- tion to the national historical and cultural heritage of the region. The article is attempted to identify the most significant factors in the development of cultural tourism and, as a conse- quence, formation of a positive reputation of the region in the tourist market. Currently, tourism is considered as the most effective means of mass demand and accessibility of cul- tural values, a source of heritage conservation. At the present stage, the interdependence of culture and tourism is increasing: there is a growth of culture support through tourism and the development of tourism thanks to the wealth of culture.
