Features of cultural tourism in Aomen (Macao)

The paper analyzes the features of the development of cultural tourism in Aomen (Macao), which is a special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China. The authors emphasize that the culture of this city, a former Portuguese colony, is different from the culture of mainland China, it is a kind of subculture that combines Chinese and Western elements. Currently, the engine of Aomen’s economic development and increasing tourist flow is gambling, so the city is known as “Eastern Monte Carlo" and “Asian Las Vegas". However, it is necessary to diversify the economy and stimulate the development of other types of tourism industry. In this case, the city, the historical part of which is included in the List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, can become one of the world centers of cultural tourism.
