The article deals with the issue of the development of the geographical component of the functional literacy of the schoolchildren. There are revealed the methodological peculiarities of the development of the reader, mathematical and scientific literacy in the process of studying the school course of Geography. The author describes the process of future Geography teacher’s training on the basis of the holistic scientific-methodological approach.
