We studied the expression of the Tp53 gene, whose product-protein p53 provides genetic stability of cells in various structures of the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, and cerebellum during the formation of long-term spatial memory in the Morris water maze in adult Wistar rats. Intact animals, as well as rats, which were subjected to active forced swimming, acted as controls. The method of real-time PCR was used to determine the level of expression of the Tp53 gene. It was shown that at the stage of active swimming, inhibition of Tp53 gene activity was observed in all studied cerebral structures. Under conditions of developing long-term spatial memory in the hippocampus, the activity of the Tp53 gene is restored to the level of native animals, and in the prefrontal cortex and cerebellum, Tp53 gene expression is activated 18 and 50 folds higher than that in native rats. The structural specificity of the modulative effects of he activity of the Tp53 gene at the stage of spatial memory formation was revealed, which can be explained by the need to develop the p53 protein for interaction with the components of the transcription machine and its activation when animals perform a new navigation skill.
