Features of diuretic activity of arbutin and hydrochinone

The objective of the study was to compare the diuretic effects of arbutin and hydrochinone. Standard arbutin sample or chemically pure hydrochinone was injected intraperitoneally in rats at doses of 18 and 54 мM/kg, respectively. Diuretic activity of compounds was assessed by urine volume. Urinary creatinine, sodium, and potassium were determined. Our data showed distinctions in diuretic actions of arbutin and hydrochinone. Arbutin showed diuretic effect and increased excretion of creatinine and potassium without changing sodium excretion. Hydrochinone exerted diuretic action without effect on creatinine, sodium, and potassium excretion.
