The article investigates peculiarities of spatial modeling and categorization of spatial experience based on the study of phraseological units with the meaning of health in English. The work presents the cognitive-oriented approach and explores axiological characteristics of the units under study. Health is seen not only in its physical manifestation but also through its mental and psychological components. In addition, attention is paid in the research to secondary signs of health (appearance, mood, behavior) and their representation by linguistic tools. This article analyzes orientational metaphors of the main health components: physical, mental and emotional state. Within a human's cognitive activity, they represent mental spaces with ori-entational metaphors "inside" (where?) - "inwards" (where to?), "up" (where?) - "upwards" (where to?). Prepositional adverbs in phraseological units show the direction of movement, distance and location of objects in space and also identify static images and continuous motion.
