Relevance. Important tasks of physical education in a generaleducational institution areтся: the formation and consolidation of students ' motivation to systematically increase the indicators of their own physical qualities, the study of provisions aimed at regulating health and obtaining the necessary knowledge in the field of physical culture. This is especially important for school leavers preparing for admission to higher education institutions of the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, since these institutions have strictly standardized requirements for physical fitness. In turn, in the last decade, a reduction in the parameters of the state of health and physical fitness of a significant contingent of high school students has been recorded. The aim of the study was to determine the characteristics of motivation of young men aged 16-17 years to engage in pre-professional physical training for training in higher education institutions of law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation. Organization and methods of research. The study involved 48 students aged 16-17 years of general education school No. 32 named after F. E. Dzerzhinskiy, general education School No. 35 named after Hero of the Soviet Union Evgeny Kostylev in Krasnodar. To determine motivational requests and incentives, we used the methods of questioning students and interviewing 11 physical education teachers of these schools.
