The article examines the specifics of the appointment of forensic molecular genetic examination, its subject and the main list of questions of identification and diagnostic nature, which is put to the expert for resolution. The possibilities of traditional methods of DNA analysis of traces of biological origin are studied, as well as the potential of relatively new areas, which include forensic DNA phenotyping and express analysis of STR markers.
