Medical terminology is an unusual language that has been formed during many centuries from a multitude of world languages, undergoing a number of changes. In this article, we consider the main ways to enrich medical terminology and ways of replenishing the vocabulary, both throughout the historical path of formation, and at the present stage. Today, one of the main ways is borrowing. Most of these neologisms are words of Western European origin, however, one should also distinguish a layer of vocabulary such as «neoclassicisms».
