Features of organization and content of physical education and health recreation activities of a university teacher

Statement of the problem. Currently, the state has noted increased attention to the physical culture and recreational activities of the population in general, and university teachers in particular. In universities, as institutions of higher professional education, goal-oriented work should be organized to preserve and strengthen the health of not only students, but also teachers, aimed at developing their functional capabilities, improving physical fitness and ensuring psychophysical readiness for work. At the same time, it should be noted that the number of teachers in universities who have health issues is 65-68% of their total number, therefore, their functional state, the level of physical fitness is considered insufficient [Mitina, 2005; Skvortsova, 2008]. The revealed relevance allowed us to formulate the problem of scientific research: what exactly should be the content of sports and wellness classes in the physical culture and wellness activities of a teacher at a university, what methods should be used to implement this process, what means and methods to use to achieve the desired goals: increase motivation to exercise, ensure their involvement in the physical culture and wellness movement to improve functional state and physical fitness, life expectancy and achievement of active creative longevity. The methodology of the research includes analysis and generalization of various scientific research works of Russian scientists recognized by the scientific community, and the experience of physical culture and wellness activities in the field of higher education. Research results. The conducted quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results of experimental work, a comparative analysis of the results of the survey, determined by the topic of the study, revealed the importance of the emotional and psychological state of teachers when performing professional work functions. Its normalization was achieved precisely as a result of physical exercises proposed in the experiment. Conclusion. The results of the pedagogical experiment showed a high effectiveness of sports and wellness classes in the physical culture and wellness activities of a higher institution teacher. This made it possible to improve their functional state and morphological characteristics, increase physical and mental performance, reduce the overall incidence of acute respiratory infections, increase motivation to exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. All this allowed university teachers to actively participate in mass sports events and competitions at the university, city, and regional levels.
