Peculiarities of translation of Japanese and Russian business correspondence

This article describes transformations used when translating Japanese and Russian business letters, and presents the main requirements for letter compilation in the analyzed cultures. The analysis shows that, for an adequate translation of a business text, it is necessary to use linguistic transformations, such as omission, addition, permutation and replacement, as well as sometimes changing the whole structure of the letter.
