Peculiarities of transferring Russian particles into English

The purpose of this article is to study the features of the functioning of Russian modal particles, as well as an analysis of the methods of their translation into English. The study was conducted by comparative analysis based on the story of the Strugatsky brothers "Monday Begins on Saturday" and its translation into English fulfilled by L.Renen. As the analysis of the functions of Russian modal particles and their possible equivalents in the English language has shown, it is not always possible to speak of regular, repetitive pairs of correspondences with respect to particles, even within the framework of one particular function. Sometimes a function equivalent to a function of a particle in a translation language can be performed not only by a particle, but by a phrase or an entire sentence.
