Features of professional development of library specialists of educational institutions

In the article are presented the tendencies influencing the education processes and the change of the informational environment for teachers and trainees. There are defined teacher-librarian's tasks in real and virtual informational and educational environment: formation of basic skills of semantic reading and assessment of various texts, media and information literacy as the basis for adherence to ethical principles when collecting, evaluating and using information. The objective factors defining features of professional development of library specialists in General Educational Institutions are presented. The article considers pedagogical potential of school libraries in developing pupils’ educational competencies in the information-intensive educational environment as the basis for organizing activities of educational institution library and for the workers’ advanced training. The structure and features of professional development of library specialists in the department of pedagogy and psychology in the Chelyabinsk Institute of Retraining and Improvement of Professional Skill of Educators are presented.
