The issues of legal regulation of powers of cadets and trainees of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in their activity to protect and maintain public order are considered in the article. The authors notice that in modern conditions of increasing threats to the normal social and state development of the Russian Federation and increasing the intensity of police work, cadets and trainees being actual officers of internal affairs bodies could provide significant assistance in carrying out police duties.
