Special features of officials' Legal status (persona publica) according to roman legal sources

The present article discusses the idea of persona publica i.e. public officer. Officials carried out variety of state functions. It means that one single private person acting as a representative of the whole nation becomes persona publica. And in the same way an association of private persons acting in the interests of the whole nation becomes public partnership. The main feature of Roman personae publicae is personalized property responsibility. Magistrates and municipal senators as direct representatives of the civil community were personally responsible with all their property for the execution of the public duties and in the civil circulation and in the court trial they participated sui iuris.
