The features of the cross-border trade between Amur region and Northeastern China in the 1950s

The paper examines the Soviet-Chinese border trade development in the Far East during the 1950s. This was the “honeymoon period” in the Soviet-Chinese relations, but in general, the trends of domination and global leadership were increased, so the Soviet Union gave priority to the Far East security. The cross-border trade developed in the borderlands of two countries in the social and political context. The author elaborates on the social, economic, and geopolitical situation in the Far East in the 1950s, analyzes the volume and dynamics of Soviet-Chinese border trade, considers the forms of mutually beneficial cooperation among the population of the bordering USSR and China Far East territories. The research concluded that there was a significant difference in the positions and characteristics of exports and imports of the Soviet-Chinese border trade, and the great influence of the state on the development of cross-border trade and economic ties.
