Unique features of natural and economic resources in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation

In the realities of modern life, there is a tendency to search for new models for the development of Russian regions due to the impossibility of their further traditional economic development: the processes of large-scale depletion of natural resources and environmental degradation caused by climate and environmental changes, the turbulence of world economic development are becoming more and more obvious. The article actualizes the problem of rational use of the natural and economic potential of the Arctic zone of Russia. The priority goal of the study is a comprehensive assessment of the natural and economic resources of the AZR in the light of ensuring the national security of the country. The uniqueness of the AZR, a wide range of minerals requires the search for special technological approaches to the development of a region that is strategically important for Russia. The study used methods of analysis, synthesis, integrated, comparative, systematic approaches and other scientific methods. The element of scientific novelty lies in the consideration of the problematic aspects of the AZR infrastructure development associated with the sanctions challenges of Western states. As a result of the study, we have identified the main areas of concern of the socio-economic development of the region associated with the irrational use of the unique natural Arctic potential, and proposed new vectors for its use in the context of global geopolitical and socio-economic transformations.
