Environmental features and economic development of the Aleika river basin on the Sambian peninsula from the iron age till the new time

The paper discusses characteristic features of natural environment ofthe Sambian Peninsula (Kaliningrad region) and the effect human economic activityexerted upon it. The problem was investigated with application of pollen analyses ofcross-sections of the archaeological sites in the Aleika River basin. The obtained datareveal changes in growth in the investigated region of the Sambian Peninsula with specialstress on man-caused impact upon the environmental transformations, and their patternwithin an extended period of time since the Iron Age.
