The article considers various aspects of establishing and changing of boundaries of the Russian Federation regions. The relevance of the topic is confirmed by the latest tendencies concerning with revision of the regional borders. The author discusses economic prerequisites determining establishment of the federal territo-ries f boundaries, and suggests ways for improvement of this process, the general scheme of the process of establishing the boundaries of the Federation.
