Features of prevention of crimes committed by female criminals in places of deprivation of liberty

The relevance of the stated topic is due to the fact that women’s crime has recently acquired negative trends (including an increasing proportion of female criminals serving criminal sentences in places of deprivation of liberty), requiring the development of effective preventive measures. One of the main forms of crime prevention is prevention, which is carried out before committing criminally punishable acts by female criminals. But the preventive effect on female criminals does not always take into account their gender characteristics. The gender-based approach makes it possible to individualize preventive measures, effectively correct and re-socialize female criminals. This will have an impact on the increase in the number of crimes committed by women. This article attempts to consider the prevention of crimes committed by female criminals in places of detention, taking into account their gender characteristics (for example, the specifics of educational work, psychological assistance, vocational training, and work adaptation). The results of the study can be applied by the legislator in improving the current penal enforcement and other legislation of the Russian Federation in this part; by law enforcement officers – in developing effective measures to prevent crimes committed by female criminals in penitentiary institutions; by scientists – in further studying the stated topics. The author notes that the prevention of crimes committed by female criminals in places of detention should take into account the gender characteristics of female criminals, and therefore an effective prevention mechanism should be developed that contains general, individual and victimological measures, and the current penal enforcement and other legislation of the Russian Federation should be reviewed in this regard.
