The effect of acute administration of ethanol at the same dose (2 g/kg), but in different concentrations and volumes on pain sensitivity of rats was investigated. It was found that introduction of ethanol in all three studied concentrations caused a significant increase in latent period of paw licking in rats compared to this indicator in group of control animals. Maximal analgesic effect of acute administration of ethanol was observed in its concentration of 13% and, accordingly, in the volume of 15.5 ml/kg. Thus, a single administration of ethanol at dose of 2 mg/kg produced significant effect on pain sensitivity of rats. With this, it has been shown that analgesic effect did not depend on the dose only, but it hinged on the concentration and volume of admitted ethanol solution also.
