Investigation features of crimes committed by means of anonymization tools on the internet and in mobile communications

The article analyses the investigative and judicial practice regarding crimes that are committed through the use of anonymization tools on the Internet. In particular, problems encountered by law enforcement officials in the investigation of digitally anonymized crime have been identified. Despite the active improvement of measures aimed at reducing such crimes, their number has increased significantly in recent years and, according to experts, will continue to increase. In addition, the author highlights the main ways of committing crimes using digital means of anonymization on the Internet and mobile communications, as well as the resulting difficulties for preliminary investigation authorities in identifying individuals who have made use of such means and communications. The author proposes legal measures to improve the legislative framework of the Russian Federation, aimed at combating crimes committed with the use of digital means of anonymization on the Internet and mobile communications
