Features of the conversational speech of characters in novel "Bridget Jones's diary" by H. Filding

The article is devoted to the analysis of colloquial speech of characters in modern fiction. Selection of characteristic features was carried out on the basis of the book “Bridget Jones’s Diary” by Helen Fielding, in which the characters' speech was analyzed. On the basis of the analysis, there was identified the role of colloquial speech and its functions in literary works, as well as a certain characteristic of the character.
