Peculiarities of Development of Mathematical Models of Feed Rate at Active Orientation of Asymmetric Billets in Mechanical Disk Hopper Feeders

The article describes methods of orientation of rotation bodies asymmetric at the end faces of workpieces in mechanical disk hopper feeders. Results of comparison of feed rate of hopper feeding devices at different methods of billet orientation with account of various factors and possible design solutions for its increase are given. Possible methods of gripping workpieces in hopper feeders are considered and positions favorable for gripping by different surfaces of workpieces are determined depending on gripping and orientation methods. The obtained expressions are presented to describe the probability characterizing the favorable position of the workpiece for various gripping methods when implementing hopper feeding devices with active orientation on the example of cylindrical workpieces, one of the ends of which is made in the form of a truncated cone.
