Development features of medical and health tourism and sanatorium complex of the Volga federal district

The difficult macroeconomic and geopolitical situation may be exacerbated by negative factors related to the epidemiological environment, which has significantly actualized the search for new concepts of management of health tourism in Russia. The potential of sanatorium treatment in Russian regions differs depending on historical conditions, demand, infrastructure and other factors contributing to the attractiveness of health resorts for domestic consumers. The purpose of the study is to identify and substantiate strategic directions for the development of health tourism in the regions of the Volga Federal District. Research objectives: to conduct a comparative analysis of statistical data on the state of organizations of the sanatorium complex of the Volga Federal District, the Republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Perm Krai, since these regions occupy leading positions in qualitative and quantitative indicators of the development of sanatorium treatment; to determine the strategic directions for the development of medical and health tourism in the region under consideration. The proposed approach contains elements of scientific novelty, since the set of measures for the strategic development of medical and wellness tourism in the Russian Federation is adapted to modern conditions. The subjects under consideration have a unique potential for sanatorium-resort activities, specialized health resorts are characterized by a diverse medical profile and strong competitive advantages. In this regard, the use and development of the potential of sanatorium treatment and health tourism should be based on scientifically sound planning, programs and strategies that comprehensively contribute to the transformation of this activity into one of the leading economic areas of the region. The directions of further development of medical and health tourism in the regions of the district were determined based on an analysis of the current situation, taking into account global trends.
