Production of sheep breeding plays an important role in a solution of the problem of preservation of food and raw security of Russia, delivering on domestic market mutton, woolen and sheepskin and fur raw materials. In zones of traditional sheep breeding for many people mutton remains an important component of a diet. In market conditions of managing in sheep breeding destructive processes began to accrue. So, from 1990 for 2015 the livestock was reduced by 82%, production of mutton decreased six times, wool - more than by eight times. In work as the author reductions of a livestock of cattle and reduction of production of wool and mutton in the world, in Russia and the Republic of Buryatia, and also production of sheep milk in the world and the CIS countries are considered.
