The article discusses the specificity of the professional activities of higher school teachers, which implies the peculiarity of the development of their professionalism. The author stresses that in the development of his professionalism the teacher himself plays the leading role as a subject of the activity. The typologies of the teacher are offered, which reflect the specificity of the professionalism development.
