Specific of Russian mediation development

The article is concerned with complexity and prospective of development and spreading of comparatively new method of alternative dispute resolution with neutral mediator participation, i.e. mediation in contemporary Russia. Dialectic contradictions and diversity of factors influencing on these processes is stated. The authors pay special attention to cultural-typical specifics of the country and its citizens’ mentality. The authors trace its influence using particular facts and examples illustrating regularity of different social groups’ relation to mediation forming. The accent on specific of mediation legitimation, its institutionalization, market request on mediator’s assistance in conflict resolution activation, issues of mediator’s preparation as professionals is made. Considering of the reasons contributing and interrupting mediation progress in Russia, either at governmental-administrative, legislative or social and individual level shows their impact on practice of mediation widespread implementation. Analysis of existing situation in Russia allows the authors to make the conclusion about slow, but inevitable development of this efficient method in the country.
