The classification of autism spectrum disorders is considered and the characteristics of psychoverbal development characteristic of each type are described. The specific features and levels of development of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders are substantiated. The necessity of creating certain directions of the correctional and developmental program, taking into account the individual characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorders, has been revealed. The criteria of the effectiveness of the compiled correctional and developmental program are analyzed. The article examines the disadvantages of this program that hinder the effective development of the communication skills of children with autism spectrum disorders.
