Mechanisms of reductive representation of propositions in Ephraem Syrus's "Paraenesis"

The article analyzes the syntax of «Paraenesis» of Ephraem Syrus (copy dated to the XIV century), focusing on the tendency towards representing propositional semantics in a reductive way with the use of morphosyntactic mechanisms. The specific methods of reduction are discussed with regard to the impact of cultural context as well as literary traditions typical for the didactic genre.
