Features of the growth of gray-bark and green-bark forms of aspen in crops on the territory of the N.V. Tsitsin Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The article presents the results of a dendrochronological analysis of the growth features of the gray-bark and green-bark forms of aspen in experimental crops on the territory of the N.V. Tsitsin Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was found that the green-brown form shows a tendency to form wider annual rings. The gray-brown form is more drought-resistant than the green-brown, but less heat-resistant. The winter hardiness of both forms is negatively affected by the elevated temperatures in November. As temperatures increase, a general deterioration of the aspen forests of the Russian Plain should be predicted.
