The article presents the characteristics of sales activities in General and gives its interpretation taking into account the peculiarities of the oil industry. The features of sales in relation to oil production enterprises are reflected in detail. The article highlights the specifics and demand in the domestic and global markets for raw materials. The reasons for the inefficiency of sales activities and ways to solve this problem are outlined. The orientation of the Russian economy towards integration into the world community and large-scale introduction of market relations require radical structural changes in the economic potential of business entities and an adequate policy to improve the efficiency of their economic activities. Improving the management of material, financial and information flows contains a significant potential for increasing the efficiency of enterprises in the oil products market, due to the use of new progressive methods and approaches.
