Constrictive laryngotracheobronchitis (CLTB, croup) is one of the most frequent and severe syndromes of acute respiratory infections in young children. Great importance is attached to a reflex spasm of the larynx often with autonomic nature in the pathogenesis of the syndrome of croup. There is a special role of the social and psychological factors, including family bringing up in the development of autonomic dysfunction. 52 "mother-child" pairs whose children underwent primary constrictive laryngotracheobronchitis and 60 similar couples with children from the group with recurrent CLTB were examined to study the psychological climate in the family. The results of this research revealed that dominant and conniving hyper-patronage as the persistent kinds of bringing up had been more common in families with children with recurrent laryngeal stenosis. Disturbances of the bringing up process detected in most families promoted the development hyperthymic and demonstrative (hysteroid) personality traits of a child. This reveals the necessity of research of the psychological status of the family during the examination of children with croup syndrome in anamnesis to use the rational psychotherapy (individual and family) package of rehabilitating measures at the early stage
