The idea of the article is motivated by the fact that nowadays we often face with speech disorders, in particular with word-making problems, and we need to be able to eliminate them. The purpose of the article is to analyze the study and identify the features of the formation of inflection and word formation in younger schoolchildren with general speech underdevelopment. The practical significance of this article is to find more suitable materials for speech therapy work, taking into account the age characteristics of each child individually. The article touches on the topic of correct recognition of violations of the word-making process, the result of which will allow for a better choice of correctional speech therapy work for children of primary school age with this speech defect. The article reveals the characteristic features of word-making in children with general underdevelopment of speech, and the development of the word-formation process in ontogenesis. Special attention is paid to the errors that manifest themselves in the process of word modification and word formation in children with general speech underdevelopment. The article analyzes possible methods that allow to accurately determine the speech disorder in children of primary school age. The results of the ascertaining experiment are presented. The author compares yhe process of word modification and word formation between children with general speech underdevelopment and children with normal speech development. It can be concluded that there is a need for correctional work with children of primary school age with general speech underdevelopment. The paper describes the importance of parents in the life of a child, to improve the effectiveness of speech therapy, with basic recommendations.
