We performed the histic observation of pregnant women placetae to investigate the impact of overweight and obesity on the placental condition. Group 1 included 121 cases of BMI=18,5-24,9, group 2 comprised 69 cases of BMI=30 and above. The following parameters were observed: adequacy of the placental condition to the gestational age, abnormal immaturity of placental villi, pathologic placental immaturity, angiostenosis of the umbilical cord, degenerative-dystrophic changes, compensatory reactions, microbial contamination of the placenta, funiculitis, placental chorioamnionitis, parietal chorioamnionitis, parietal deciduitis, basal deciduitis, intervillusitis, villusitis, pathogens, other placental pathology (nidal hypo-vascularisation, obliterating angiopathy, intervillous haemorrhage, fetal integument haemorrhage, dilation of the stem villi). The results of testing showed that morphological condition of obese women’s placentae comprised circulatory, degenerative-dystrophic and inflammatory injuries, degree of manifestation increasing with the increase of BMI.
