Features of the mass media of religious minorities in Russia (on the example of the old believers)

The Old Believers' mass media in the Russian Federation have many common features with the mass media of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. At the same time, they differ in much smaller numbers, which is explained by the small size of the Old Believer confessional community compared to the community of the ROC MP. The Old Believers do not have radio and television media. The Old Believers' media in Russia are characterized by apologetic and missionary traits, focus on their own denomination, the desire to overcome the "niche" nature of religious media, attention to historical topics and ties with foreign co- religionists, criticism of The Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Their peculiarity is openness to discuss their internal church problems. The nature of the Old Believers' media is influenced by the organizational pluralism of the Old Believers. Characteristic materials, along with theological articles, are articles about clergymen, church activists, ordinary believers, sketches of Old Believer life, materials about ancient religious traditions and devotion to their faith in a changing world. The nature of the Old Believers' media is influenced by the organizational pluralism of the Old Believers: the presence of three organizational centers representing the Old Believers' sub-confessions, which have differences in traditions, religious practice and certain nuances of the creed (The Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, The Russian Old Orthodox Church, The Pomorian Old Orthodox Church.). The Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church has the most developed media. The most active and developing segment of the Old Believers' media is the Internet media.
