Introduction. The article examines the technique of hand-to-hand fighting, peculiarities of mastering it, as well as the improvement of hand-to-hand combat techniques of cadets at educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The aim is to substantiate the complex of pedagogical facilities which provide effectiveness of technical training of the cadets of educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Materials and Methods. Theoretical and methodological basis for the research included fundamental provisions of A. N. Leontiev activity theory, system approach to formation of motor skills established by N. A. Bernstein, P. K. Anokhin, P. Ya. Galperin, B. A. Ashmarin, A. Ya. Nein et al., works on general theory of sport training. The authors used pedagogical observations, interviews, motor tests (the ability to rebuild motor activity, differentiation of spatial-temporal parameters, reactions to selection in non-standard conditions, the level of ability to make orientation in space; ability to react), assessment of the level of technical proficiency during competitions, mathematical data processing. Results and Discussion. For effective cadets’ technical training in hand-to-hand fighting it is necessary to model its content. The prerequisite of high level of proficiency is employing the exercises to develop spatial-temporal awareness, simple and complex reaction, specialized perceptions, anticipation, and exercises to enhance the techniques, improve theoretical lessons. The control examination resulted in the positive valid changes in all the parameters under study: ability to rebuild motor activity, differentiation of spatial-temporal parameters, reactions to selection in non-standard conditions, the level of ability to orient in space; ability to react), level of technical proficiency during competitions. Mastering techniques of hand-to-hand fighting is a mandatory condition for improvement of cadets’ professional competencies at educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Conclusions. Special theoretical lessons and exercises to develop spatial-temporal awareness contributed to improvement of cadets’ technical and tactical skills
